Decades, LLC has often acted in the role of a court-appointed Guardian and/or Conservator to manage the personal affairs of individuals who are determined to be no longer capable of making decisions for themselves. Our comprehensive elder care consulting and care management philosophy is to operate in the least restrictive way in order to preserve autonomy, minimize and manage conflict, and protect our clients’ interests.

With extensive experience in the highly specialized work of making decisions for and protecting others, we understand the importance of finding balance. We accomplish this by focusing on:

Decades, LLC of Santa Fe and Albuquerque is aware that our first responsibility is to our court-appointed client. By seeking to understand each individual client’s values and life history, we believe we are better able to make decisions based on his or her preferences and wishes.

Our goal is to honor the standards of least restriction. We believe that each individual should have the highest degree of autonomy possible while still maintaining the highest quality of life and the greatest amount of independence.

In addition to serving as a Guardian and Conservator, Decades, LLC can also serve in the following court-related roles:

• Court Visitor. We will evaluate a person’s functional ability and inability, assess their entire situation and provide written reports to the court. We also investigate conflict and allegations so that the Court can determine the need for a guardian or conservator.
• Expert Witness. Our founder and CEO, Nancy Oriola, has been qualified by the 2^nd Judicial District Court of New Mexico as an Expert in the area of Elder Care. Nancy is a master guardian, of which there are only four in the state. To receive the designation of Master Guardian, one must have a minimum of 10 years of experience and pass a comprehensive exam.
• Personal Representative. In some cases, the court may appoint Decades, LLC as a personal representative in probate matters in people’s personal estates. We will work closely with attorneys to administer personal estates.
